Check out the images and descriptions below to distinguish between rat, mice, possum, and cockroach droppings commonly found in Australia.

GERMAN COCKROACHES

The German cockroach is a small, light brown insect with two dark stripes on its back. Common in homes, especially kitchens and bathrooms, it reproduces rapidly, making infestations challenging. They spread bacteria and can trigger allergies. Control involves cleanliness, baits, insecticides, and sealing entry points.

AUSTRALIAN COCKROACHES

The Australian cockroach is a large, reddish-brown insect with yellow markings. Found in warm climates, it typically lives outdoors but can invade homes. It contaminates food and spreads disease. Control involves cleanliness, baits, insecticides, and sealing entry points.

AMERICAN COCKROACHES

The American cockroach is a large, reddish-brown insect with a yellowish figure-eight pattern on its back. Common in warm, humid environments, it often infests basements, sewers, and kitchens. Known for contaminating food and spreading bacteria, effective control includes maintaining cleanliness, using baits and insecticides, and sealing entry points.

Cockroach Treatment

Our Approach: You don’t need to vacate your property during our treatment, as we use a low-toxicity insecticide with no lingering odor. There’s no need to empty cupboards or wash anything post-treatment, and it’s safe for kids and pets.

  • Internal Treatment: We spray skirting boards and apply gel to targeted areas for German cockroaches.
  • External Treatment: We spray garages, sheds, fence lines, pathways, windows, gutters, fascias, and dust roof voids, subfloors, Telstra pits, cracks, crevices, and weep holes.

Your Role: Before treatment, refrain from putting out washing, tidy up, mow lawns, minimize outdoor garbage, and clean indoors. Clearing items from walls improves treatment efficacy. Keep windows and doors closed until the spray dries, and clean behind appliances like fridges and microwaves.

Cockroach Control: Treatment methods vary for German cockroaches and larger species. Gel eradicates German roaches effectively, while larger roaches are managed with general sprays covering roof voids, internal skirting boards, and external areas.

Protecting Your Home:

  • Seal cracks and gaps where roaches can enter.
  • Fix leaks promptly to deny roaches water access.
  • Maintain cleanliness by washing dishes promptly, storing food securely, cleaning spills immediately, and regularly vacuuming and mopping.

Spray Mechanism: Our spray not only targets large cockroaches but also addresses spiders, carpet beetles, silverfish, crickets, and wasp nests. It forms a residual barrier, ensuring long-term protection. Roaches ingest the poison as they groom themselves, enhancing efficacy.

Treatment Preparation:

  • Internal: Avoid hanging washing out, clear clutter from walls, keep windows shut until spray dries, and tidy behind appliances.
  • External: Mow lawns, manage outdoor garbage, clean backyard areas, and store toys away.

6-Month Warranty: We stand behind our large cockroach treatment with a 6-month warranty. If issues persist after 6 weeks, contact us for a complimentary follow-up visit.

German Cockroaches

Severity Levels:

When you contact Sydney’s Best Pest Control regarding German cockroaches, we assess severity based on where they are found and how far they’ve spread from wet areas.

  • Mild: Confined to kitchen, bathroom, and laundry.
  • Moderate: Also present in lounge room and hallway.
  • Severe: Found throughout the entire premises, including bedrooms.

Treatment Approach:

Internal: We apply a gel/paste inside cupboard hinges, specific areas in affected rooms, and behind appliances. Non-repellent spray is used on skirting boards to create a barrier, preventing roaches from moving to unaffected areas.

How the Gel Works:

The gel acts as a food source for German cockroaches. As they feed on it, they ingest the chemical. When they return to their nests, the chemical spreads among other cockroaches as they groom each other.

Preparing for Treatment:

  • Internal Preparation: Clean thoroughly, especially behind appliances like the fridge and under the microwave. Minimize clutter as it can harbor pests. Dispose of paper goods, cardboard boxes, and plastic bags.

Post-Treatment Expectations:

German cockroaches will be flushed out and remain active for up to 6 weeks, which is normal to eliminate hiding individuals. Baby roaches may appear around week 4, indicating treatment effectiveness.

  • Expect a 70-80% reduction in the first week, decreasing further over 6 weeks.
  • For severe infestations (e.g., bedrooms affected), a follow-up treatment is recommended 6 weeks after the initial one.

Note: Don’t worry if you don’t see dead cockroaches immediately; many may die within their nests.
